VFX Artist / Senior VFX Artist
At Hazelight, we create award-winning, story-driven co-op games that push the boundaries of interactive storytelling. From A Way Out to It Takes Two, and now our latest project, Split Fiction, we’ve built a reputation for crafting emotional, cinematic experiences filled with humor, heart, and gameplay-driven narratives.
Now, we’re looking for a VFX Artist to join our team and help bring our next game to life with stunning, high-quality effects in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll be part of the VFX and Tech Art team, collaborating with artists, designers, and coders to craft cinematic, dynamic, and optimized VFX that enhance gameplay, storytelling, and player immersion.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement high-quality visual effects for characters, environments, and gameplay moments using Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara.
- Enhance storytelling with immersive cinematic effects, dynamic particles, and realistic environmental interactions.
- Create, optimize, and integrate shaders to support stunning real-time effects.
- Craft textures, flipbooks, and procedural effects using Substance, After Effects, or other tools.
- Balance visual quality and performance to ensure the game runs smoothly across platforms.
- Work closely with other teams to seamlessly integrate VFX into gameplay and cinematics.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in real-time VFX for games, demonstrating a strong understanding of VFX principles.
- A portfolio showcasing high-quality, real-time effects that enhance gameplay and storytelling.
- Hands-on experience with Niagara, material/shader authoring, and VFX optimization in Unreal Engine 5.
- Proficiency in creating textures, simulations, and particle systems for real-time environments.
- A keen eye for detail, motion, and how VFX impacts gameplay and player immersion.
- A collaborative mindset, you enjoy problem-solving and working across disciplines to bring visuals to life.
Bonus Skills
- Experience using Houdini for complex simulations (Destruction, fluids, smoke, etc.).
- Familiarity with Blueprints for VFX integration and interactive effects.
- Experience with Embergen for real-time particle simulations.
