Voice Over (VO) Writer
We’re looking for a freelance Voice Over (VO) Writer to collaborate with us on an ongoing, flexible basis.
This role is open to remote candidates within Europe (CET ±2 hours preferred), working closely with narrative, design, and the VO team throughout development.
About the role
This role focuses on in-game VO – writing short, reactive, and repeatable lines triggered by gameplay (barks, reactions, systemic dialogue).
At the same time, the VO carries story, character, and relationships. You’ll be expected to write lines that feel natural, nuanced, and true to character, while still working under gameplay constraints.
This is a hands-on role, you’ll be writing and refining VO directly, based on briefs, without heavy rewrites from the team.
What you’ll do
Write short, gameplay-driven VO (barks, reactions, systemic lines)
Write “story VO” that reflects character, tone, and relationships
Edit and refine existing lines
Ensure lines feel natural when spoken and hold up under repetition
Prepare scripts and support VO recording sessions
Collaborate with narrative, design, and audio
This role is NOT
A narrative design role
Focused on long-form or cutscenes
Suitable for writers without experience in gameplay-driven VO
A general copywriting or scriptwriting role
We’re looking for someone who
Is a native English speaker
Has senior-level experience, with at least one shipped game
Has experience writing VO for games
Can write short lines that sound natural, specific, and in character (not generic)
Understands how dialogue functions within gameplay systems
Is comfortable executing on briefs and working in a flexible freelance setup (work delivered in batches, sometimes with short turnaround times)
Send us your CV, a short intro, and your portfolio, including a link to a published game with examples of your VO work (we need to hear the VO, not just read it).
